As of September 2012, PEcAn version 1.2.6 is the latest stable version. This version was released for the August 2012 summer course "Assimilating long-term data into ecosystem models" that taught methods advanced by the PalEON project. PEcAn 1.2.6 is being used for ongoing research and applications, while development of PEcAn 1.3 continues. It contains all of the modules described in "version 1.1", with added functionality, improved stability, and improved useability that represents an increasing community of scientists and developers:

Important changes from version 1.2.5 to 1.2.6:

  • Added Data Assimilation that uses MCMC with SIPNET

Changes from 1.1 to 1.2.5

Version 1.2.5, which was released in July 2012 for the The 5th Annual Summer Course in Flux Measurements and Advanced Modeling, represented substantial changes and was the first stable release following version 1.1. Notable changes:

  • Code re-organized
    • modules separated into distinct R packages
    • modules now can be launched by R functions rather than bash scripts
  • "SIPNET" model, decreasing development and run time compared to use with ED2
  • Web-based interfaces to PEcAn and BETYdb to code base
  • Rstudio server to Virtual Machine to facilitate education, use, and development
  • Implemented standard input driver and model output formats
